Mahenge is the place
where the famous hot pink spinel and very recently the blue cobalt spinels are coming from.
The mountain range climbes up to 1000 meters above sea level and offers stunning views with plenty of marble outcrops.
We will be welcome in a dealers office and meet a series of gemtraders followed by a visit to one of the mining sites, Epanko or Lukande.
After the visit of the Mikumi National Park we will reach Iringa.
Prehistoric rock paintings as well as Ismilla a paleolitic stone age site are nearby and worth a visit.
Then the mining areas of Songea, Nyamtumbo, Tunduru, and Ruangwa are on our way with a variety of alluvial and primary depostits of
Sapphires, Alexandrites, Chrysoberyl, Aquamarin, Tsavorite, and accompaning minerals ( Pyrite, Graphite, Quartz ect... )
